The international trade fair in Milan dedicated to oenological and bottling equipment awarded the ‘Technology Innovation Award SIMEI 2019’ to the Origine by Diam® closure. A closure which is composed of natural elements (a binder made from plant-derived polyols and a beeswax emulsifier).
Created and manufactured by Diam Bouchage (Oeneo Group), Origine by Diam® was preselected by the judges of the prestigious Innovation Challenge as a next-generation technological innovation.
The list of the most innovative and cutting-edge projects in the wine industry was developed by experts and operators in the sector, and after evaluation the jury awarded Origine by Diam® the ‘Technology Innovation Award SIMEI 2019’.
The award ceremony was held on Tuesday 19th November, the opening day of the Milan trade fair.
Dominique Tourneix, Managing Director of Diam Bouchage, was presented with the award in the presence of the managers of Diam Sugheri and Belbo Sugheri (Paolo Araldo Group), distributors in Piedmont who cover all of Italy. He made the following remarks: ‘I think the SIMEI 2019 Technology Innovation Award jury wanted to reward both the spirit of research and innovation which has always been at the very heart of our work, and wine lovers. Origine by Diam®, is a cork closure that incorporates a beeswax emulsifier and a binder composed of 100% plant-derived polyols. As a result of many years of research into these natural ingredients, we have been able to offer an ever more natural corking solution, while maintaining the reliability of Diam® closures in terms of safety, homogeneity and controlled permeability’.
Origine by Diam® is also certified OK Biobased, a specific certification for products composed of natural materials. It achieved a 4-star rating which acknowledges that Origine by Diam® is made from 80 to 100% renewable raw material content.
